Female Walking Dog Hit by Car on Highland Avenue

The crash occurred Monday evening.

A female walking her dog with a friend was hit by a car at the intersection of Highland Avenue and Gray Street at about 6:24 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26, according to police.

The female told police she had “minor wrist pain.” She was evaluated at the scene by emergency personnel but did not need further treatment, police said.

The female and her friend said all cars had a red light when they started crossing but said they did not have a walk signal. The driver said, when her light turned green, she proceeded to take a left from Highland Avenue onto Gray Street and struck the female.

The female was hit in the hip and wrist and was not knocked over, police said. She and her friend were wearing long black coats; it was lightly snowing; and the area was not very well lit, according to police.
