Police: Wedding Band Found; Speeding Car Into House; Rings Valued at $13,000 Missing

ARLINGTON, MA - Excerpts from the Arlington Department Police Department log.

Jan. 5

At 9:11 p.m., larceny in the area on Pleasant Street. Reporting stated that a family member has taken a black Sony Playstation 3 and two controllers out of her house without her permission. She noticed the Playstation missing at the day before. She also reported that $100 was missing from her purse.

At 2:03 p.m., larceny on Kenilworth Road. Walk-in stated that in November she noticed that two of her diamond rings were missing. The rings were valued at over $13,000.

At 7:38 p.m., motor vehicle crash on Paul Revere Road. Upon arrival on scene with fire, officer noticed a motor vehicle in the street with airbags deployed and heavy front-end damage. I checked the vehicle and spoke with the operator who was out of the vehicle; he stated he suffered no injuries. Officer spoke further with the driver who stated that he had just left his home and was headed to school. He believed he was speeding and hit some ice at the top of the hill where the road begins to turn and lost control of his vehicle. His vehicle went up over the curb onto the sidewalk and collided with the house. There was over 50 feet of tire marks leading up to the home. Police officials estimated that driver was traveling at an approximate speed of 50 miles per hour. The speed limit posted in the area is 20 miles per hour. Driver was issued a speeding ticket.

At 11:09 a.m., break and enter on Fremont Street. Report of a break and enter into the residence and a larceny of a check. Upon arrival I spoke to the reporting party/victim, who reported that she was contacted by the East Cambridge Savings Bank regarding an incident at the branch that involved suspected forgery and uttering of a check written out to her. Christmas check in the amount of $100 was missing. Police sought a warrant for breaking and entering daytime for a felony, forgery of a check, uttering a false check and attempt to commit a crime.

At 5:47 p.m., malicious destruction on Mill Street. Road rage over a parking spot. The reporting party stated that the driver of the other vehicle gave her the middle finger multiple times. When the reporting party returned to her vehicle a short time later, she observed that the passenger side of her vehicle had a large scratch stretching from the rear passenger tail light to the front passenger side door.

At 9:55 a.m., found property in the area of Massachusett Avenue and Whittemore Avenue. Wedding band found and turned in to officers.
