Attleboro Ice Rink Renamed For Injured Player 'AJ Quetta Rink'
The New England Sports Villiage in Attleboro has taken on a new name in honor of a high school player who was injured on the ice.
ATTLEBORO, MA — An Attleboro premier ice rink has taken on the name of a high school graduate who suffered a severe spinal cord injury on the ice while playing his favorite sport during his senior year.
The premier rink at the New England Sports Village was renamed the "AJ Quetta Rink" over the weekend before Bishop Feehan's game against Archbishop Williams.
The renamed rink now includes Bishop Feehan's signature Shamrock logo, and Quetta's former jersey number, 10.

A quote from Quetta has also been put up for display on the rink, WCVB reported. "If there is a will, there is always a way, my friend."
Now 19-years-old, Quetta suffered a spinal cord injury that left him partially paralyzed when he crashed headfirst into the boards during a game against Pope Francis on Jan. 26, 2021.

The first annual Quetta Cup Tournament was hosted in June as a fundraiser for AJ Quetta and his family at the New England Sports Village in Attleboro, where it was first announced that the rink would be renamed.
Quetta recently rejoined the Shamrocks boys hockey team as an assistant coach in early December, wcvb reported.
A GoFundMe page has raised over $1 million for his treatment and rehabilitation, and the North Providence teen was recently named to the Central Catholic League's All-Star Team.
A post from his Instagram page shows he has been working extensively through physical therapy and hopes to be able to walk again one day.
