Eight People Displaced After Fire Tears Through Attleboro Home

ATTLEBORO, MA — Eight people are now displaced after a fire erupted on the second floor of a multi-family house in Attleboro Monday night.

Firefighters responded to the home at 38 Orange Street at 6:40 p.m. after receiving an emergency call.

Upon arrival, crews said they could see heavy smoke coming from the second floor of the home.

Attleboro Fire Chief Scott Lachance said crews worked aggressively to knock down the fire in order to prevent it from spreading elsewhere.

Within two hours the fire was deemed under control and the last unit left the scene at 9:51 p.m., Lachance said.

All residents were able to escape the house and no injuries were reported, but now eight people are displaced from the damage.

Lachance says the damage to the home is estimated to be about $200,000.

Attleboro police closed down Orange Street to continue their examination, but it has since reopened.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
