License Renewed at Controversial Dickens St. Auto Business
The city is in "good standing" with new owners of the site of a 2011 drug bust.

A Dickens St. auto business with a controversial history had it's Class 2 Auto License renewed by the Attleboro City Council last week by a 7-3-1 vote.
The shop, located at 116 Dickens St. was before the City Council just a few months ago when the council decided that owner Rasanna Diaz was a "proper person" to receive a Class 2 license.
The shop is the site of a 2011 drug bust where former occupant Basillio Rosario was arrested for drug trafficking. Rosario is the former step-father of Diaz's fiance' Daniel Martinez, who will serve as the shop's mechanic. Martinez said he is no longer in contact with Rosario.
Last week's license renewal was along similar voting lines as October's decision. Councilors Jonathan Weydt, Walter Thibodeau and Mark Cooper all voted against the business in both instances. Due to living in the same neighborhood, councilor Brian Kirby abstained in both instances.
Weydt and Cooper said Diaz wasn't up front when explaining her and Martinez's relationship with Rosario while Thibodeau cited strong opposition from Ward 1 constituents.
Diaz told councilors in October that she planned to be present during all business hours.
License Committee Chiar told councilors last week that the shop has been in "good standing" since the fall.
