Builder Withdraws Plan For Controversial Beverly Development
A neighborhood group had organized opposition to the proposed, mixed-use development for Beverly Farms.
BEVERLY, MA — Facing a standing-room only crowd at Wednesday's Zoning Board of Appeals meeting, a developer withdrew an application for a variance that would have pushed a mixed-use development forward near Beverly Farms. Skomurski Development LLC withdrew its application for a variance without prejudice for the project at the corner of Everett and Hale Streets.
The neighborhood association for Beverly Farms had organized opposition to the project through a social media campaign. The group warned that the project would "make a dramatic change to the quaint village area, also taking valuable parking spaces off Hale Street."
On Thursday, the group thanked supporters for showing up to last night's meeting.
