Mayor Michael Cahill was sworn in Monday afternoon at Beverly High School, taking the helm after the retirement of the city's longest serving mayor.
Cahill was joined by four new members of the City Council and a new member of the School Committee.
The inaugural event included Michael Cahill, the mayor's brother, as MC, and involvement of the Beverly High School ROTC color guard, vocal ensemble and jazz and string ensemble.
Following the swearing in, Cahill addressed the city for the first time as mayor with his inaugural address.
