Apology Follows WEEI Producer's Ethnic Slur On-Air
The "Greg Hill Show" producer referenced ESPN reporter Mina Kimes in a comment seen as derogatory toward Asian-Americans.
BOSTON, MA — WEEI "The Greg Hill" show producer Chris Curtis apologized Thursday for an on-air ethnic slur, according to reports.
During a show Wednesday, Curtis and others were discussing Boston's proposed ban on small alcohol bottles — often called "nips," which is also a slur against Japanese people. When asked for his favorite type of "nip," Curtis referenced Mina Kimes, an ESPN NFL analyst of Korean descent.
Curtis said he actually meant to name Mila Kunis, the actress.

After apologizing Thursday, Curtis will face a week suspension, returning to the air on Wednesday, according to NBC 10.
"It had nothing to do with the subject matter, and it dragged her into a controversy through no fault of her own regarding a slur and her race and that was not at all what my intention was, but it doesn't matter because of the absolute chaos my words created for someone who's just doing her job covering the NFL at ESPN. So I want to apologize to Mina Kimes, I want to apologize for a stupid, lame attempt at a joke," Curtis said on air, according to NBC 10.

Kimes did not directly address the controversy — except to change her Twitter profile picture to one of Mila Kunis.
