Boston May Lower Speed Limits to 20 MPH
After a drag-racing Bentley hit a Beacon Street pedestrian, Boston could lower speed limits on certain streets to 20 miles per hour.

Boston, MA - Boston's City Council is considering lowering certain speed limits to 20 miles per hour, after a drag-racing incident injured a pedestrian earlier this month.
City Councilor Frank Baker submitted a proposal Wednesday that would reduce speed limits on heavy residential streets and in certain business districts to 20 mph. The current speed limit requirement is 30 mph for densely populated, predominantly residential areas.
Baker also hopes to waive a rule that calls for a comprehensive traffic study before adjusting speed limits, saying a street-by-street study is expensive and difficult for a city Boston's size.
