Like Father, Like Daughter: Malia Obama to Attend Harvard

However, she's waiting until 2017.

President's daughter Malia Obama has made her college decision, the White House said Sunday, but with a twist -- she's waiting a year before starting school.

Like her father, Obama has chosen to attend Cambridge's Harvard University.

“The President and Mrs. Obama announced today that their daughter Malia will attend Harvard University in the fall of 2017 as a member of the Class of 2021. Malia will take a gap year before beginning school,” the White House statement said.

A "gap year" allows students to accrue real-world experience before diving into academic pursuits. It may also serve to diminish the presidential glare of attention, with Obama's father out of office.
