Guy Fieri To Open Boston Restaurant, And It Involves Street Food

BOSTON — Celebrity chef Guy Fieri - known as host of a number of food shows, including "Diners Drive ins and Dives" — is opening a restaurant here in Boston, and you can bet it will involve Latin-inspired street food to a new music venue near TD Garden.

“Boston has always been one of my favorite cities to hit for [Diners Drive ins and Dives]… great people and even better food. So, to have the chance to start the party at Big Night Live with my Tequila Cocina, I couldn’t be more stoked!” said Fieri in a statement.

The Emmy Award wining host is partnering with Big Night Entertainment Group to bring Tequila Cocina to The Hub on Causeway. Fieri made the announcement in an Instagram story Wednesday.

And then he went to watch Game 2 of the Stanley Cup finals.

Guy Fieri’s Tequila Cocina will be inside Big Night Live luxury music hall, which is slated to open adjacent to TD Garden in the next year there.

The music venue is also a Big Night Entertainment Group project, and clocks in at about 40,000 square feet of live entertainment and nightlife space.

Guy Fieri’s Tequila Cocina will occupy 6,000 square feet within Big Night Live, with 185 seats, an expansive bar, and a menu that brings the flavors of Latin America to the heart of Boston’s entertainment hub, according to the group.

“We knew that Guy Fieri was the perfect partner for this restaurant because not only is he an incredible chef, but he’s a fantastic entertainer who embodies the high-energy we are looking to create for those guests who will visit Big Night Live,” said BNEG Principal Ed Kane in a release. “Having already worked with him on projects like Guy’s Foxwoods Kitchen + Bar, we’re excited to introduce his first-ever Boston restaurant and bring Guy’s energy and passion for dining and entertainment to the city of Boston and The Hub on Causeway.”

Fieri’s got some 70 restaurants around the world, but this is his first Tequila Cocina.

Guy Fieri’s Tequila Cocina will be open daily for lunch and dinner, offering a menu with interpretations of Latin street food. And why have "Tequila" in the name if that isn't a part of the shtick, too? The menu will feature some 100 tequilas.
