Hiring: Dunkin' Donuts President, Must Love Coffee, Calories

Get your resumes ready. The president of the coffee and pastry behemoth's U.S. and Canada operations is stepping down, Dunkin said Thursday.

Boston, MA - Are you a highly caffeinated, pro-pastry executive ready to rise into a challenging, executive-level gig and -- oh, yeah -- take on Starbucks? If so, a soon-to-open spot at Dunkin' Donuts might just be for you.

The Canton-based coffee and doughnut giant announced Thursday that Paul Twohig, president of Dunkin's United States and Canada operations is retiring in March of 2017.

"It is difficult for me to fully summarize the many contributions Paul has made to our business. He is a legendary operations leader, and we have greatly benefited from his wisdom and insights over the past six and-a-half years," CEO Nigel Travis told investors and analysts in a Thursday morning call.

Over the next 12 months, Twohig will be sticking around the Boston-area company to help Dunkin' undertake a search for candidates to fill his spot, Travis said.

It's an exciting time to take on a leadership role a Dunkin' Donuts.

On the call Thursday, the company announced it's planning an app to deliver its baked, fried, iced, and steamed goods right to customers' doors. It's also moving aggressively against competitor Starbucks, the de facto king of coffee in the U.S., through a newly piloted mobile-ordering app, plus loyalty program.

Up for the task? Then you'd better load up on ice cream-flavored iced coffee, grab another Butternut Donut, and keep a weather eye out in the months to come.
