MA Weather: 'Bombogenesis' Nor'easter To Slam Region This Week
The second nor'easter in as many weeks is expected to be a more direct hit than last week's system.
Here comes another nor'easter. Forecasters said a second major storm in as many weeks is coming to the region, and this one is going to be a more direct hit than the first.
Forecasters are still nailing down the specifics but are confident the storm will start by the Wednesday evening commute and bring torrential rain and hard-gusting winds. The coastline and Cape and Islands could see wind gusts of 60 mph or higher.
The storm will persist into Thursday and a cold front with blustery winds will follow the storm, the National Weather Service said.

Forecasters are using the term "bombogenesis" to describe the storm. That means the storm is expected to intensify rapidly as it lashes out on the region.
As of 8 a.m. Tuesday, no weather warnings or outlooks were posted. Patch will update when there is more information.

The storm will be the second nor'easter of the season. The first was at the end of the last week and fell well short of expectations. The end of the week brought some rain, but the multi-day storm forecasters were calling for was largely a dud. The system meandered offshore, causing a couple thousand brief power outages on Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket and making for some dreary days.
