Tasty Burger Worker In Boston Suspected Of Having Hepatitis A

There are three Tasty Burgers in the city, including one at North Station.

BOSTON —Massachusetts Department of Health is investigating a suspected case of hepatitis A involving a worker at a Tasty Burger in Boston.

"There has been an isolated incident with one employee at one Tasty Burger location in Boston. We are currently following the recommendations of the Boston Public Health Commission in an event like this. Per their advice, we are taking the proper precautions and steps. All Tasty Burger locations are open," according to a representative at the restaurant.

There are three Tasty Burgers in the city, including one at North Station, one in Fenway and another in Back Bay. It's not clear where the worker was employed.

The burger joint was founded by a group of chef friends, and they opened the first location behind the historic Fenway Park in 2010. Today they have four locations in total, the fourth spot is in Cambridge.

Hepatitis A is a contagious virus that can cause liver disease. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, it is usually transmitted person-to-person through the fecal-oral route or consumption of contaminated food or water.
