Elderly Female Pedestrian Fatally Hit By Vehicle In Brockton

A 73-year-old woman died at a hospital Tuesday evening after Brockton police responded to a "fatal accident involving a pedestrian."

BROCKTON, MA — A 73-year-old woman was fatally struck by a vehicle on Main Street in Brockton Tuesday evening, The Boston Globe reported.

Brockton police said on Tuesday night that they were "investigating a fatal accident involving a pedestrian" that occurred shortly after 5 p.m. near 1367 Main Street.

The incident was in the 1300 block of Main Street, near the Trinity Baptist Church and Campello High Rise apartments, WCVB reported.

"Upon arrival, Brockton Police and members of Brockton Fire and Brewster EMS located a 73-year-old female victim suffering from life threatening injuries," a statement from the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office said.

The woman was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead, according to the Globe.

Neither the victim nor the driver of the vehicle that hit her have been identified, though the Globe reported that authorities said the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene.

The incident is currently under investigation.
