Mother Killed Sons For Fortune, Fame, Prosecutors Allege
Police say Latarsha Sanders stabbed her two sons to death.

BROCKTON, MA — A desire for fame and fortune may have been a Brockton mother's motive for stabbing her two sons to death, prosecutors allege. Latarsha Sanders, 43, appeared in Plymouth County Superior Court in Brockton Tuesday on two counts of murder. She was ordered held without bail.
Sanders was arrested in February after police were called to her triple-decker on Prospect Street. Officers found the bodies of her two sons after a neighbor told police that Sanders had kids living there. Investigators said that that the 5- and 8-year-old boys were stabbed to death by their mother, identified as Sanders. The 8-year-old suffered 50 stab wounds, according to prosecutors.
Sanders left her home in an ambulance, but never mentioned her sons. She allegedly put the boys in separate beds, placed sheets over them, and put the knife used to stab them in the kitchen sink.

Sanders allegedly told police at the time of her arrest that the deaths were part of a voodoo ritual, but Assistant District Attorney Jessica Kenny said in court Tuesday that investigators found a P.O. box to receive fan mail notes in a journal about creating a GoFundMe campaign for her family with the money going to “whoever has the best story," according to the Enterprise.
