Snow accumulation wasn’t major. But snow totals during a lengthy period of snow showers on Sunday and Monday still beat initial predictions from the National Weather Service’s Boston office, which expanded a winter weather advisory on Monday morning to cover much of southern New Hampshire, the North Shore and Greater Boston after it initially only covered Cape Cod and part of the South Shore.

Scattered locations around Massachusetts saw upward of three inches of snow, with 3.7 inches measured on Monday morning at one location in Falmouth, according to the National Weather Service. Logan Airport picked up 3.4 inches, while Chelsea saw three inches.

Snow totals were lower a few miles to the east, with one inch in Medford, 1.2 inches in Melrose and 1.5 inches in Lexington.
