BROOKLINE – Brookline's outdoor dining season will last into December.

When the pandemic hit, the town green lighted an outdoor seating program that was set to come to an end on Nov. 1. In an effort to support restaurants impacted by the stay-at-home orders, the Select Board voted to extend outdoor dining until Dec. 7 for those who apply for permits.

Restaurants that choose to maintain their patio seating can apply for permits for temporary, portable liquid propane heaters as part of a pilot program in town. Under the program, restaurants can use propane heaters as long as they meet a variety of safety requirements outlined by the town and Brookline Fire Department.
