Brookline HS Ranks High On 2 Lists Of Top MA High Schools

BROOKLINE, MA — Brookline High School was ranked among the top public high schools in Massachusetts in a pair of recent annual rankings.

Niche.com's rankings released last week put Brookline at No. 5 among Massachusetts public high schools, while the U.S. News and World Report's annual rankings released on Tuesday had Brookline at 34th out of 339 public high schools.

Niche's 2022 rankings factored in academic and student life data from thousands of schools across the country. The most important factor was academics, but Niche also looked at culture and diversity, teachers, clubs and activities, sports and more.

The U.S. News and World Report rankings are intended to show how well the nation's public schools serve all students, regardless of achievement level, by teaching them basic skills and preparing them for college-level work.

"Over the past several years, BHS has certainly worked hard on its STEM program. Our new STEM building is a realization of the educational plan we developed to guide the high school renovation and expansion over the past several years,” said Head of School Anthony Meyer. "At the heart of this STEM work are collaborations within and between our Career and Technology Education, Math, and Science departments, led by Britt Stevens, Josh Paris, and Ed Wiser, respectively. BHS students benefit every day from engaging courses and content, excellent instruction, and world-class facilities. And, as always, there is more work to meet the needs of our 2080 students."

"I know less about the Niche rankings, though I appreciate that we were ranked highly - both through quantitative data and the user reports and surveys on the website - in the "Best School" and the "Best Teachers" categories for the Public High Schools in Massachusetts,” he continued. "Excellent teaching and learning is one of the many foundations of the work we do at Brookline High School, and we are incredibly lucky to celebrate and share this recognition with our students, staff, families, and community. I am confident that we will maintain and build upon this standard as we continue to grow and improve our practices, policies, culture, and community, to support all Brookline High School students."
