BROOKLINE, MA — The MBTA plans to consolidate the Fairbanks Street and Brandon Hall Stations as part of its Green Line C Branch Accessibility Improvements Project.

The project is still in the design phase and is projected to cost approximately $51 million. A main facet of the endeavor includes raising platform heights and installing extendable ramps to train cars which would make it fully accessible to riders with mobility restrictions in order to become compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

According to the project’s description on the 143-page document submitted to the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs by the MBTA and the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, the two Brookline stations will be replaced by one new station located between the two, with the new station equipped with accessible boarding, access, and egress.
