Brookline Police Log: Reports During Hurricane Sandy

The following incident report is based on Brookline Police Department dispatch logs for Oct. 29 through 30. Look for weekday incident reports twice a week, and arrest logs each Tuesday on Brookline Patch. Suspects are innocent until proven guilty.

• While Hurricane Sandy blew through Brookline on Monday, the Brookline Police Department received over 100 reports of trees going down, and 22 reports of wires coming down.
• At about 4:30 p.m. on Monday, police and fire responded to a transformer explosion at the Walnut Street and Cypress Street intersection which plunged part of Walnut Street into darkness.
• Police received a report of a power outage during the hurricane in the Russett Road/Independence Drive area on Monday at about 4:45 p.m. 
• On Tuesday morning, police received reports of trees or branches down on Fairmont Street, Holland Street and Buckminster Road. Wires reported down on Beverly Road, and the Clarence/Fuller Street intersection in the latter half of Tuesday. 

• 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Police took a larceny report from 55 Addington Road. 

• 227 Bonad Road, a reported bat call comes in at about 8:45 p.m. on Monday.
• 8:15 a.m. Tuesday, bat call reported by 99 High Street.

• A woman reported that someone was making unauthorized transactions on her debit card in New York, from Gerry Road on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
• An explosion reportedly occurred on Horace James Circle at about 6 a.m. Tuesday, on Newton Street near the rotary, on a wooden pole. 
• Assault-and-battery incident reported at 60 Gorham Way at about 9:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
