Brookline Seeks Volunteers For Town Board, Committee Seats
Brookline has vacancies on more than 10 boards and committees, officials said last week.

BROOKLINE, MA — Brookline is seeking volunteers interested in town government as officials look to fill vacancies on more than 10 town boards and committees, the town announced on Wednesday.
Officials last week said new appointees will help each group “fulfill its critical role in supporting the town’s work related to diversity and inclusion, the arts, public health, preservation, and more.”
“All of these organizations share the common goal to better the town of Brookline,” Town Administrator Chas Carey said in a statement. “It would be exciting to see community members volunteering to take part in this great work.”

The Select Board may also make an appointment without an interview, though, in which case officials will notify applicants by email or by mail.

“[R]ather the Select Board is looking to create Committees that (1) reflect the racial, ethnic, economic, and other diversities of the Town or applicants who because of the nature of the Committee’s responsibility are individuals from groups that may bring a needed perspective to the Committee, (2) have a diversity of ideas, perspectives, experiences, and skills, (3) have members with the experience or skills in the specific area of the Committee’s responsibility, and (4) will work as a team and be active contributors to accomplish the purposes of the Committee,” officials say on the town's website.
