'He is focused on others, not himself,': Brookline Local Hero
We all know someone who's making a difference. Let's help share their amazing stories! Presented by Ring.
BROOKLINE, MA — When times are tough, heroes emerge. But rarely do they get the spotlight they deserve. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.
Here at Patch, we've begun an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. Together with Ring, we're working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories.
This submission comes from Select Board member John VanScoyoc who nominated Harvey Bravman. Bravman works as a a film producer and founded a local non-profit that celebrates achievements of local young people. He's also deeply committed to helping promote small businesses and helping bridge gaps between communities.

Amid pandemic, although for health reasons he himself has had to lay low, it hasn't stopped him from working to showcase the work of others. Bravman reworked his annual youth awards show and brought the awards ceremony to Zoom recently.
VanScoyoc describes Bravman as someone who builds community through video documentaries spotlighting achievements of young people, and sharing stories of local Holocaust survivors as well as prominent citizens who overcame racism.
