BROOKLINE, MA — Protected bike lanes are coming to two Brookline streets as part of a pilot project to determine how well flex posts work in the area and how they affect snow removal.

The posts are coming to sections of Lee Street and Clyde Street and are designed to protect the lanes where there is no physical barrier between the travel lane and the bicycle lane.

The pilot program will run through the winter with feedback then sought to determine its success and any impact on snow operations. Officials said that if the program is deemed successful, additional posts will be added and the pavement marking lane lines will be updated to align with the posts this spring.
