State Auditor Suzanne Bump Endorses Mara Dolan For Gov.’s Council

BROOKLINE, MA — On Tuesday, State Auditor Suzanne Bump endorsed public defender Mara Dolan for Governor’s Council, District 3.
Bump is the chief accountability officer for the state and people of Massachusetts.
The Governor's Council is made up of eight elected Councilors who vet and vote on judicial nominations, commutations and pardons, and members of the Parole Board. Dolan seeks the Democratic nomination for District 3, which includes parts of Boston, all of Arlington, Brookline, Newton, Waltham, and her hometown of Concord among its 32 cities and towns.

“Mara Dolan will add a much-needed perspective to the Governor’s Council,” Bump said in a statement. “Not only is she a consummate legal professional, but her work as a public defender grounds her view of what the public should expect from its judicial appointees.”

Her work for the people of the Commonwealth is immeasurable,” Dolan said in a statement. “She has shown the difference that high standards can make. As Governor’s Councilor, I will make sure all nominees, whether for a judicial appointment or for the Parole Board, will maintain the highest standards our judicial branch requires.
