Weekend Happenings in Brookline: Oct. 15 & 16

What's going on around town. Then, tell us what else no one should miss.

  1. First, the weather is happening. After a couple of days of dreary drizzle, the sun is shining brilliantly. What's the rest of the weekend look like? According to the National Weather Service, mostly sunny today, with a high near 68, with a slight chance of showers after noon.  Breezy.

    Tonight: Slight chance of showers before 3am. Partly cloudy. Breezy. A low around 47.
    Sunday: Mostly sunny, high near 65. Even breezier.
    Sunday Night: Chance of showers after midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 51. 
  2. As part of the Fall Fairytale Festival, there are both Saturday and Sunday showings of the family puppet show, Fairy Circus by Tanglewood Marionettes. Marionettes always make me think of that scene from Sound of Music.
  3. At the , freedom of women (or lack thereof) is the subject at the Freedom and Enslavement Exhibition. Multimedia artist Myrna Balk and photographer Andrea Rosenthal. An is being held 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  4. Henry Rollins is at the tonight, promoting his latest: a collection of photography and essays gathered from 25 years of traveling to desolate and dangerous places:Burma, Iran, Afghanistan,North Korea.
  5. And since, yes, it is time to get your pumpkin, why not help support l while you're at it? The school's starts tomorrow at noon. At silent auction you also also bid for treasures such as an Adam Sandler-autographed T-shirt.
