Cambridge's COVID-19 Utility Bill Moratorium Is Ending July 1

The City of Cambridge will continue efforts to help residents prevent utility shutoffs.

CAMBRIDGE, MA — As of July 1, 2021, the utility bill postponement put in place by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts during the COVID-19 pandemic will end.

Customers who have an overdue balance on their natural gas or electric account may have their services disconnected after July 1. Eversource should have also sent out a notification about this change.

Utility customers can prevent a shutoff by paying their balance and taking action. If you are having trouble paying your bill, help is available. Enrolling in an Eversource payment plan can prevent a service disconnection, says the company.
