Exotic Mexican Restaurant Coming To Cambridge Mall

CAMBRIDGE, MA — The launch of a new Mexican restaurant is right around the corner.

Gato Exotico is opening at CambridgeSide Mall on 100 Cambridgeside Place before the end of the year. The space aims to be a tropical and colorful environment that is a modern version of late 20th-century mall dining.

The menu includes authentic Mexican dishes such as mole negro from Oaxaca,
cochinita pibil slow roasted in banana leaves from the Yucatán, and bright Peruvian ceviches. The drink menu will be based around mezcal as well as tropical fruits and juices.
Owner and Chef Jason Doo said he aimed to recapture memories he has of spending time at the mall when he was a teenager.

“My family has been in Cambridge for three generations and this city has always been home. We are dedicated to creating fun, affordable, and immersive restaurants that give back to the community that has given my family so much,” Woo said. “For us, opening at CambridgeSide is not just about a new restaurant, it is about continuing that connection and investing in the future of a city we care deeply about.”
