Mass. Makes '101 Best Pizzas in America List' — Barely

Bet you can guess which pizza place. Hint: It's in Cambridge.

CAMBRIDGE, MA — Massachusetts almost didn't make this comprehensive list, which ranks what it considers the 101 best pizzas nationwide, down to the ingredients.

Fortunately for us, we have Area Four.

Thanks to the Cambridge classic, Massachusetts came in at No. 100 on The Daily Meal's "101 Best Pizzas in America" rundown.

Specifically, according to The Daily Meal powers that be, it's their Clam and Bacon pizza that takes the cake in the 2016 rankings. The list-writers credit its house-made ingredients, fermented dough (yum!), and wood-fired perfection.

The Daily Meal even name-dropped President Obama, who stopped by for a slice in 2015. (Not that it alters the rankings, but POTUS purportedly dined on Area Four's mushroom fontina pizza, then ordered a carnivore "for the road").

And this isn't even Area Four's second brush with national notoriety. In January 2015, it was showcased on an episode of The Food Newtwork's "Best Ever."

So, hats off to Area Four (again), and good on them for beating at least one NYC pizzeria.
