Learn about the next phase in the long-running construction project.

The Mass. Department of Transportation has scheduled additional public information meetings, as construction on the Longfellow Bridge enters its fourth phase.
Per MassDOT, the meetings' purpose is to provide an update on recent progress and discuss potential changes for the next phase of the project to shorten the construction duration. The historic bridge spans the Charles River between Cambridge and Boston's Beacon Hill neighborhood.
The Cambridge meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Thurs., Aug. 18, at the Multicultural Arts Center.

It will discuss stage 4 of the bridge's longrunning construction project, which begins this month.
According to MassDOT, "In this phase, inbound vehicles use the new roadway on the upstream side of the bridge. Bicyclists, both inbound and outbound, continue to use the sidewalk on the upstream side of the bridge and pedestrians continue to use the sidewalk on the downstream side. Stage 4 work entails rehabilitating the bridge under the old outbound Red Line tracks."
