Red Line Service Temporarily Suspended in Hunt for Bank Robber
The MBTA briefly suspended Red Line services as Cambridge Police apprehended a bank robbery suspect early Monday afternoon.

Cambridge, MA - The MBTA briefly suspended Red Line services early Monday afternoon, as Cambridge Police boarded the subway and apprehended a suspect connected to a bank robbery reported earlier in the day.
The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority's police force tweeted out the temporary delay Monday, then quickly followed up to say transit police assisted in the apprehension of the robbery suspect at Central Square.

The robbery, which police scanners place at Cambridge Savings Bank, 630 Massachusetts Ave., was reported just before noon. Cambridge police tweeted out the suspect description as a mid-30s white male, who did not show a weapon.
Roughly 30 minutes later, the MBTA had resumed service, and transit police tweeted that a suspect was caputred on the train and in custody. Cambridge police also confirmed the suspect was apprehended.

The Red Line continued to run on a slight delay through early afternoon as a result, the MBTA alerted passengers.
