Update: Police Recover Man Who Reportedly Jumped In Charles River

Public safety officials were on-scene at Weeks Footbridge in Cambridge for a reported jumper.

Cambridge, MA - State Police report they have recovered a man who earlier this morning jumped into the Charles River, and are now transporting him to the hospital, but it is unclear whether the man survived.

According to an update from Massachusetts State Police Twitter, the "jumper was recovered," and transported to Mt. Auburn Hospital. Police divers and Cambridge Fire Department vehicles and vessels are now leaving the scene.

Around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, state police reported rescue operations were in progress at the Weeks Footbridge in Cambridge, where witnesses reported someone jumped into the Charles River.

Massachusetts State Police divers and the Cambridge Fire Department searched the river for a man witnessed jumping in just before 7 a.m., according to the state police department's Twitter updates.

Witnesses reported the man leaped into the water and did not resurface, state police said.
