This presentation is intended for healthcare providers, as well as family caregivers, to help create empathy for and a better understanding of the frail patient/elder. A series
of exercises are designed to simulate some of the sensory losses that can accompany disease and/or the aging process. The participants experience vision changes, hearing loss, etc. and then share the feelings such loss can evoke. Methods of helping to
minimize the effects of these changes and to maximize the independence and dignity of the patient are discussed.
