Suspect Dies After Stabbing Standoff in Canton

Man barricaded himself inside a Washington Street home after his brother was reportedly stabbed.

The man who allegedly stabbed his brother and was involved in a standoff with police overnight died in the hospital Monday.

Rescue personnel rushed Larry King, Jr., 49, to the hospital after the standoff inside a Canton home. He was reportedly suffering from self-inflicted stab wounds, according to police.

Just after 6 a.m. Tuesday morning, Canton Police Chief Kenneth N. Berkowitz told reporters King stabbed his brother, who sustained non-life threatening injuries.

The situation unfolded Monday night after a man barricaded himself inside a home after his brother was reportedly injured. The injured man was transported to a nearby hospital when a second man barricaded himself inside the home.

SWAT teams and local law enforcement worked to get the man out of the house on Washington Street in the early morning hours.

Washington Street was closed between Dedham Street and Randolph Street during the standoff.
