CHARLESTOWN, MA — Disney is in Charlestown this week filming what appears to be a Christmas movie, complete with fake snow and holiday garlands near the Bunker Hill monument.

If you saw bright lights and some strange activity around the monument last night, that's what it was. Disney Studios began filming Wednesday in the neighborhood, according to a flier that warns about limited parking.

Filming is set to continue on Thursday and Friday at a Pleasant Street home the studios owns. Still, watch for the no parking signs in monument square until filming is finished in the wee hours of Saturday, so your car doesn't get towed.

Ever wondered what the fake snow was made of in the movies? The studio official says - at least for these scenes - it will be a combination of white cloth blankets, shaved ice and pet-friendly salt. Officials stressed there would be no chemicals. Perhaps in a nod to recent reports of dogs getting sick after visiting local parks. "Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding for the upcoming filming. We appreciate the neighborhood and are doing everything we can to make this an enjoyable experience for all," reads the flyer, which is signed by "Frills Location Department."

Filming is set to happen from 2 p.m. Thursday to 2 a.m. Friday. Then it is scheduled to start again at 4 p.m. Friday and continue until 4 a.m. Saturday.
