Townies High Girls Hoops Swamped by Marauders in Playoff Opener

The Charlestown High School team lost 69-31 in the Div. 2 North tournament.

The playoffs were over before it started for the Charlestown High School girls basketball team.

Host Belmont High School scored the first basket in the first two seconds of the game. They ran off to a 25-7 lead after the first quarter and never looked back as the Marauders trumped the Townies, 69-31, in the first-round Division 2 North playoff game on Tuesday, Feb. 27.

The Townies end their season at .500 at 9-9.

Senior guard and captain Sara Centeio led the Townies with 15 points including two threes. 

Junior forward Kayla O'Brien and senior guard and co-captain Adrienne Allison each had five points as each played strong on both ends of the court.

Rounding out the scoring were senior guard Stephanie Dipena and senior forward Shannon Simpson with three points each.
