Danvers Police Awarded $41K Traffic Safety Grant
Grant funding will go toward traffic enforcement, equipment, pedestrian safety efforts and the annual bicycle rodeo.
DANVERS, MA — Danvers police will use $41,000 in National Highway Transportation Administration funding to conduct traffic enforcement, enhance pedestrian safety efforts, buy equipment and support the department's annual bicycle rodeo.
Police Chief James Lovell said focused enforcement will be geared toward impaired driving, distracted driving, seat belt usage and speeding. Pedestrian safety enforcement efforts will focus on crosswalks.
Equipment purchases include pole-mounted speed monitors and hand-held radars.

"These grant funds allow us to take a proactive approach to traffic safety by focusing enforcement and education where it can make the greatest impact," Lovell said. "Our goal is to make Danvers' roads safer for all — drivers, cyclists and pedestrians alike."
