Danvers Tavern Appealing Liquor License Suspension
For the second time in as many years, the Osborn Tavern will appeal a decision by Danvers selectmen.
DANVERS, MA — For the second time in as many years, the Osborn Tavern will appeal a decision by Danvers selectmen to suspend its liquor license.
The Massachusetts Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission is scheduled to hear the tavern's appeal Thursday of the three-day suspension selectmen handed out in October. Selectmen voted 4-1 in favor of the suspension, finding the tavern had over-served three women on Aug. 30, including one who was pulled over as she tried to drive away from the Maple Street establishment.
Last year, the tavern successfully appealed a six-day suspension stemming from separate incidents in November 2018. On Nov. 2 police responded to a report of a fight that was started by a man and woman who were "heavily intoxicated," according to police reports. Then on Nov. 10, police found a man sleeping in his car behind the Osborn because, he told police, he was too drunk to drive home.
