Danvers Town Manager Hires Finance Director
Finance Director, chief financial advisor to the town manager, will oversee advanced accounting work and manage the financial affairs.

Danvers Town Manager Steve Bartha announced on Thursday that Travis Ahern will join the staff in the newly-created position of Finance Director, begiining Monday, Sept. 28.
Ahern comes to Danvers from the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority, where he was a finance and policy analyst. He has also held positions in the Town of Weston and with State Street Corporation. He holds a Master’s in Public Administration from Northeastern and a Bachelor of Arts from Hobart College in Geneva NY.
Ahern’s starting salary will be $105,000, according to town officials.

While new to Danvers, Ahern and his wife live in Waltham, so he arrives with a good understanding of the area and a working knowledge of the Commonwealth.

The Town of Danvers is seeking highly qualified candidates for the newly created position of Finance Director. The incumbent serves as the Town Accountant/DPW Business Manager and is retiring on June 30, 2015 after 30+ years of service. The successful candidate will oversee advanced accounting work, manage the financial affairs of the Town, and serve under the direction of the Town Manager as the chief financial advisor to the Town Manager, Board of Selectmen, Finance Committee, and town and school department heads regarding financial forecasting strategies, plans, and management. Danvers enjoys a AA2 rating from S & P. Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred. Position available: July 1, 2015. Compensation: Salary dependent upon experience and qualifications, but it is expected that the entry range would be $95,000 to $115,000, with growth potential to $130,000.
