Judge Orders Competency Evaluation For Teen Accused of Raping, Killing Teacher

The trial of a Danvers teenager accused of raping and killing his teacher is now on hold as a judge has ordered Chism to a hospital for a mental competency evaluation, according to whdh.com.

Philip Chism will spend up to 20 days at Worcester Recovery Hospital for observation.

The murder trial for Philip Chism, who is now 16, was set for Oct. 7 in Salem Superior Court, beginning with Jury selection set to begin this week in the trial of a teenager accused of raping and killing his math teacher in 2013.
