Jury Selection Delayed in Philip Chism Trial

Jury selection has been delayed in the trial of a teenager accused of killing his math teacher after his lawyer said she has concerns about his competency to stand trial, according to 7News/whdh.com. The fourth day of jury selection was about to begin Tuesday when Chism’s lawyer expressed her concerns to the judge.
The murder trial for Philip Chism, who is now 16, was set for Oct. 7 in Salem Superior Court, beginning with Jury selection set to begin this week in the trial of a teenager accused of raping and killing his math teacher in 2013.

Chism, who was a 14-year-old student at Danvers High School in 2013, is accused of killing 24-year-old Colleen Ritzer of Andover, a popular math teacher at Danvers High School. on Oct. 22, 2013.
She had been raped and her throat had been slit with a box cutter.
