Letter to the Editor: A Child Walking Alone

To the editor,

I have a question for you. Have you ever driven down Locust Street in Danvers and notice a child walking in the street? I see it every day on my drive home.

There is a long stretch of road across from the reservoir with absolutely no sidewalk. Take a drive down there sometime, notice the blind curves, maybe envision the road covered in snow and cars sliding, then picture a 10 year old boy walking there.

This is a tremendous oversight by the town of Danvers with consequences that are simply unthinkable. Would you rather write a story about how the town acted immediately to resolve this issue or would you rather write a story about how that 10yr old boy lost his life walking home?  

There’s a town hall meeting this Wednesday at 7 pm where residents will plead their case. What will the town of Danvers do?
