Police: Fewer Crashes at Danvers Route 128/62 Interchange

The notorious intersection has improved over the summer, according to data from the Danvers Police Department.

DANVERS, MA – There were 12 crashes at the interchange at Route 128 and Route 62 from July to September, a drop according to the Danvers Police Department.

The previous six months saw an average of 11 accidents per month. The Massachusetts Department of Transportation said in a news release that they implemented improvements in the area to curb the number of crashes, including additional signage, modified signal timing, and relocating an overhead signal.

"The Danvers Board of Selectmen is pleased with the results of MassDOT placing a red arrow at the 128N ramp and the flashing yellow arrow at the 128S ramp," said Danvers Board of Selectmen Chair Diane Langlais in the news release. "The reduction in crashes, as reported by the Danvers Police Department, is considerable. The next step is to deal with congestion. The Board is grateful that the DOT has agreed to submit suggestions and to continue working with the Town of Danvers."
