What Happened To The Stolen Rail Trail Bicycle?
The white bike sculpture went missing on March 29.
You may have heard that the white bike scultpure, that acts as a mascot for the , has gone missing.
With rumors floating about its whereabouts, we're here with a You Ask...Patch Answers, to tell you what has happened in this mysterious lost bicycle situation.

On Thursday, March 29, Rail Trail organizer Kate Day sent out the following message:
This just in – the white bike that has adorned the Pickering Street trail entrance is missing. Any information leading to its recovery should be reported to me, or to the . This whimsical bike has been decorated for Christmas, and was most recently wearing shamrocks for Saint Patrick’s Day. Please help us find it so it can resume its cheery greeting for users of the Danvers Rail Trail.

Paula Boyce, who put the bike sculpture in its Pickering Street location, told the Salem News "the bike was put there for a decoration. It was not a working bike. We encourage every neighborhood to clean up the trail so we can all enjoy a beautiful walk or bike ride."
Next, on April 1, a ransom note was sent to Rail Trail advisors. The note, attached to this article, stated "If you want the white bike back, leave $1,000,000 in the Code Department by noon today! Or you'll never see it again!"
The note was signed "Kidnapper!"
Now, the town is looking for the public's help to return the trail's whimsical mascot. To make a donation for the bike’s safe return, visit the Rail Trail's website.
