3rd Racist Incident Investigated On Framingham Campus

A third racial slur was found over the weekend at Framingham State University. A website has been launched, and investigating is underway.

FRAMINGHAM, MA—A third racial slur in a month was found on the Framingham State University campus over the weekend, said officials.

Two other racial slurs have been found within a month at the college.

On Sunday, Oct. 29, in the evening, officials learned of a third incident of racism that occurred in Larned Hall that targeted an African American student on campus. A flyer that had been defaced with racially offensive writing was found under a student's door.

"I cannot emphasize it enough – FSU has ZERO tolerance for acts of racism," said University President Javier Cevallos, PhD, in a statement to the community. "We are all saddened and distressed by what has gone on in recent weeks, but I believe our actions and resolve in the face of this racism will make us a stronger community."

Police started interviewing students, and the school is asking members of the community to contact the FSU Police Department with any information you may have by calling 508-626-4911 or by texting an anonymous tip to 67283 with “FSUTIP” in the body of the message.

"We must remain vigilant and unified in the face of the hatred that has occurred within our community," continued Cevallos in the statement. "We are determined to find person(s) responsible for these actions and hold them accountable." I know that you are not interested in words, you are interested in action."

The institution has launched a website to keep the community updated on these type of incidents, which includes timelines, updates and ways for the community to keep up with the information, including social media hashtags.
