5 Things You Need To Know Today in Framingham: July 31
Blue moon, food drive, 80s music on the Framingham Centre Common tonight, state restores kindergarten grants and SpongeBob at the library.

1. Tonight is a Blue Moon. They used to say once in a “blue moon” as it was rare to have this occur in a lifetime, but it happened in 2012 and it will happen tonight. A Blue moon is when a full moon happens twice in one month. Click here for more details.
2. The Loomers will perform ‘80s music tonight on the Framingham Centre Common as part of the Framingham Parks & Recreation summer concert series. Music starts at 6:30 p.m.
3. The Lutheran Church will be collecting food for A Place To Turn, an emergency food pantry in Natick, that serves MetroWest, on the Framingham Centre Common between 6:30 and 8:30 tonight during the concert. Please bring a non-perishable food item and drop it off at the church’s tent tonight.

4. Both the Massachusetts House and Senate voted to overrride the Governor’s veto of the kindergarten grants for the Fiscal Year 2016 budget for the Commonwealth. This is good news for Framingham. Click here to read more about the legislature’s votes.
5. The Framingham Library will hold a free screening of The SpongeBob Movie: The Sponge Out of Water at 2 p.m. today at the main library on Lexington Street.
