5 Things You Need To Know Today in Framingham: June 10
Elementary band fair and registration night, Framingham High boys tennis team in semifinals, and meeting on Boston 2024 Olympic Bid.
1. Senator Karen Spilka and MetroWest organizations are hosting a community meeting on Boston 2024 Olympic Bid at Ashland High tonight at 6:30. the public is invited to attend.
“This meeting is a terrific opportunity for the MetroWest community to hear more details about the Olympic bid proposal,” said Sen. Spilka, who represents Framingham. “MetroWest needs to be a part of this conversation. I look forward to learning more and giving everyone a chance to ask questions and express their concerns.”
2. The Framingham High boys tennis team competes in the MIAA Division 1 South semifinals today. They will travel to Brookline to take on the #1 seeded Brookline High at 3 p.m.

3. Current fourth grade students and their parents are invited to an instrumental band fair tonight from 6 to 8 at Framingham High.
Soon-to-be fifth grade students can choose from six instruments: flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, trombone and percussion.

Tonight’s event will explain the elementary band program in grade 5. Afterwards,parents can register students for band and learn how to rent an instrument. Music & Arts as well as Centre Music will be in attendance. For additional information visit: fpselementaryband.weebly.com
4. Opera at the main Framingham Library tonight at 7. Musicologist and Professor Gil Harel will present Giuseppe Verdi and the Golden Age of Italian Opera. During this session, Dr. Harel examines the great tragedy La Traviata, discussing its superlative musical qualities, its compelling characters, and the man who wove it all together. Refreshments will be served.
