UPDATED: 5 Things You Need To Know Today in Framingham: June 12

Giant Carnival, 3rd Annual Pink Ball, after-hours teen coffeehouse at the library, and free performance of Once Upon A Mattress all tonight.

1. The Carnival is in town today and for the rest of the weekend.

The first-ever Framingham High Giant Carnival opened last night at St. Thomas Church, located at 41 Brook Street.

The carnival was the brain-child of Framingham High junior class president Jake Binnall, who began working on bringing the carnival to town in 2013. The carnival will features rides, food and games by Fiesta Shows.

Money raised from the “carnival will go towards ensuring that cost doesn’t deter people from attending their senior prom. It will significantly help us cut down costs,” said Binnall.

  • Today, June 12 from 6 to 10 p.m.
  • Saturday, June 13 from 1 to 10 p.m.
  • Sunday, June 14 from 1 to 9 p.m.

Admission is free, but you must purchase tickets for the rides and games. Food is available for purchase.

Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m., there will be an unlimited ride special of $22 per person. CLICK HERE to download a flyer.

2. MetroWest Boot Camp’s Community Outreach is hosting its 3rd Annual Pink Ball tonight in Saxonville to support two women battling breast cancer. Tickets are $30 and are still available. Click here for more details.

3. Today is the last day of school for Marian High students. Click here for a list of last day of classes for other Framingham Schools.

4. The main Framingham Library is holding another Teen Spirit open mic coffeehouse tonight from 6 to 8:30. Singers, musicians, comedians and storytellers in middle and high school are encouraged to participate in a no pressure, supportive environment. Snacks and beverages provided.

5. The McAuliffe Charter School will stage Once Upon a Mattress tonight at the Boston Church of Christ at 7.

Admission is free. Church located at 214 Concord Street. The show features 15 Broadway Club members and another 16 crew members.
