5 Things You Need To Know Today in Framingham: June 4
Teen writing workshop, Saint Bridget School graduates, Sen. Karen Spilka wins award, and first-ever Summer Reading Fair at Walsh Middle.

1. Today is the FINAL early release Thursday for the Framingham Public Schools. Both elementary and middle school students will be dismissed early.
As it is an early release day, the main Framingham Library is holding a teen writing workshop for middle and high school students at 2 p.m with Lemonade Mouth author Mark Peter Hughes.
2. The Andover High softball team upset the Framingham Flyers, seeded #10 in the MIAA Division 1 North tournament, on Wednesday afternoon.The loss ends the Framingham High girls softball team’s season.

3. Senator Karen Spilka, a Democrat who represents Framingham, received the Legislator of the Year Award from the Young Democrats of Massachusetts Women’s Caucus this week. Click here to read more about her award and who received the Woman of the Year Award.
4. Tuesday night, 32 students graduated from Saint Bridget School in Framingham. Click here for a list of graduates and where they will attend high school.

5. It’s a busy night at Walsh Middle School. The PTO is hosting the school’s first-ever Summer Reading Fair. All books required and recommended for summer reading will be available for purchase, at a discount rate, from 5 to 7 p.m.
There will also be food for purchase and an ice cream truck, for families to enjoy a picnic tonight, before the free spring choral and jazz band concert at 7 p.m. in the auditorium.

BONUS: Mark your calendars for June 11-14. The Class of 2016 will be hosting a carnival, featuring Fiesta Shows, on those dates to raise money to subsidize the cost of the senior prom.
