Craft Beer Franchise Wants To Open Store on Route 9

Already with locations in 10 states, the Framingham franchise will go before Selectmen for license approval tonight.

A chain of craft beer retail stores wants to open its next franchise on Route 9 in Framingham.

Craft Beer Cellar will go before Framingham Selectmen tonight, July 21, for license approval.

Founded in 2010 by Suzanne Schalow and Kate Baker, there are now more than a dozen Craft Beer Cellar locations in 10 states.

The company’s mission “is committed to driving the growth and awareness of craft beer through hospitality, education, and support of exceptional beer.”

The craft beer industry continues to grow. There are more than 3,000 craft brewers in the United States, including award-winning Jack’s Abby Brewing in Framingham.

The Craft Beer Cellar (CBC) franchise model is to sell craft beer brands in bottles and cans, along with a selection of craft cider and wine.

A majority of the store is typically filled with craft beers from around the globe, with a dedicated selection of state beers, where the franchise is located.

The new franchise is slated to open at 328 Worcester Road in Framingham, after license approval.

The Framingham franchise, when it opens, will be the eighth one in the Commonwealth. Others are located in Newton, Plymouth, Belmont, Winchester, Westford, Braintree, and Amesbury.

Craft Beer Cellar locations typically offer beer tastings and a beer of the month.
